Style & Design Consultant is a London-based collaborative team that brings together the distinctive skillsets of founders Michele Barker and Fusako Akimoto. Both have worked in larger agencies and have come together to offer a more personal, hands-on and bespoke service. With our extensive industry knowledge and our ability to facilitate the experiential storytelling that objects, materials, colour and branding can achieve, we are uniquely placed to identify elements that are appropriate to the mood, tone and purpose of the environments we design.

We create meaningful and balanced sensory worlds that reflect each client’s brief, parameter and budget. Our work in the interior design, styling and graphic markets is underpinned by our love for what we do – a passion that is matched by our professional pride in delivering relevant, intelligent design that meets client needs and ambitions. A wide exposure to the creative cultures of many parts of the world has enhanced our breadth of knowledge and has sparked a spirit of eclecticism in our approach.

Michele has 25 years’ experience as an Interior Designer and Creative Consultant. For many years she headed a team as Creative Director at a leading agency in London, conceptualising solutions for brands and individuals across a wide spectrum of requirements. This experience allowed her to amass invaluable insight into the creative needs of businesses, brands and individuals. She also has been working on personal projects for retail and residential clients. Working with a very focused and personal methodology, she draws on the expertise she has accumulited over her professional career. Her unique ability to see possibility in spaces, whether through light, colour, material selection, object placement or texture and counterpoint makes her sought-after for a range of projects – as much for those that are consumer-facing as for those that are personal and intimate.

Fusako brings a wealth of experience as Creative/Art Director and a Branding Specialist. She specialises in creating solutions that express the unique positioning of each piece of visual communication, space and/or brand. She has been consulting, styling and art directing for more than two decades for a number of wide selection of local and global brands and hotels. Her many years of experience as a professional in the field brings a strong element of brand intentionality to the design solutions she can offer clients, alongside an outstanding eye for elegance and grace.

Fusako and Michele bring a unique perspective to design projects, understanding the particularity of clients’ needs and visions, and elevating outcomes beyond expectation. We choose to be personally involved on each project we undertake, from start to finish.
